Hiking Boots, Mittens, and Walks

Two days ago I put on my hiking boots, (nice, they are warm!) Put on my winter mittens, hat, scarf, and heavy coat! Brrr…I head out the door for a brisk walk, because I was beginning to feel sluggish from being inside! The thought of stepping out into 24 degree Fahrenheit weather was not comforter! BUT…I realized I must do this!

Today was day 2 of my winter walk, and once again the temperature was below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. I did not let the temperature stop me, and placed my feet on the street once again.

Except for the traffic; it is my time of quiet, my time of thinking through, and a little writing takes place in my mind.

2020 is on it’s way and I am making my writing goals. Do you set writing goals for yourself? Usually mine writing goals are not specific enough. As the new year approaches I am making new goals.

My first goal is to finish the book that will not be finished in 2019. This is my fault, because I did not set up a specific plan to complete my memoir. The second is to complete a second book. The second book is completed in the area of research, now I need to get down to the work.

What is my solution? I am setting up a writing calendar in the same way, I set up my calendar for other areas of my life.

It would be great if you share your writing goals with us in our comment section.

When Everything in Life is Not Beautiful

flower, naromoru, lodge, kenya
Scanning through Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other areas online, we see smiling faces, fun, laughter, and beauty.
We see photos of groups of friends, families, events, filled with smiles.
Wouldn’t it be nice if everyday of life was filled with everyone getting along perfectly in relationships, and no problems exist?
No arguments, no anger, no sad days, and no struggles.
Although I write about joy, encouragement, kindness, and love, I realize days exist, when we experience problems in our relationships.
The smiling faces, fun, laughter and beauty only exist in our photos and words on social media.
Life may be difficult, life may be hard, people we are in relationships with are not always kind, and not always loving.
Yet, this is all part of life. It’s ok to admit, today was a difficult day. Today was a sad day.
Today I am struggling.
As we become honest with our situations, we may see ourselves without our rose colored glasses.
We may begin to admit we are sad, we are struggling and we are not sure what to do.
Yet, it is in this place we may see the solution to a problem. We may see how to build a bridge in a close relationship instead of tearing it apart.
Honesty, helps us to see reality. It is in this place, that beauty may begin to shine through.
We will begin to once again see beauty, experience joy and hear our laughter.
Honesty, is all part of healing.
Love the people God places in your life. Forgive when necessary and build a bridge.
