Writing Marathon, Head on Desk

Writing can be beautiful, and at the same time challenging.

I am coming out of a 4 day writing marathon. What non writers do not realize is, writing marathons are mentally exhausting. Head on desk. Day off.

When Everything in Life is Not Beautiful

Scanning through Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other areas online, we see smiling faces, fun, laughter, and beauty.
We see photos of groups of friends, families, events, filled with smiles.
Wouldn’t it be nice if everyday of life was filled with everyone getting along perfectly in relationships, and no problems exist?
No arguments, no anger, no sad days, and no struggles.
Although I write about joy, encouragement, kindness, and love, I realize days exist, when we experience problems in our relationships.
The smiling faces, fun, laughter and beauty only exist in our photos and words on social media.
Life may be difficult, life may be hard, people we are in relationships with are not always kind, and not always loving.
Yet, this is all part of life. It’s ok to admit, today was a difficult day. Today was a sad day.
Today I am struggling.
As we become honest with our situations, we may see ourselves without our rose colored glasses.
We may begin to admit we are sad, we are struggling and we are not sure what to do.
Yet, it is in this place we may see the solution to a problem. We may see how to build a bridge in a close relationship instead of tearing it apart.
Honesty, helps us to see reality. It is in this place, that beauty may begin to shine through.
We will begin to once again see beauty, experience joy and hear our laughter.
Honesty, is all part of healing.
Love the people God places in your life. Forgive when necessary and build a bridge.

Writing and Radio Stations

I am on day 5 of writing copy and crowdfunding. (For details see previous post.) It is Saturday morning, and I am surprised I still have words pouring out of me to write.

On day 5 of my 12 hour days, I am still pushing through with my crowdfunding and all kinds of small snippets of writing.

If you are a writing and you desire to publish, it will be necessary for you to be part of the promotion of your book. It is the world we live in!

Yesterday I wrote the following;

This is an excerpt from my latest community news. When we least expect it the doors swing open, and opportunities arrive.

I smile and I laugh, when I reflect on the photo below. I am the oldest daughter of 5 children. When I think of what I am stepping into today I am amazed.

I had no idea when I was 10 years old, surrounded by my siblings, holding my brother, that someday I would travel outside of the USA equipping and training leaders, write 2 books, and design a conference. BUT God…he knew what was up ahead for me. Sigh…I am thankful.

Today’s surprise is when I connected with an out of state radio station to advertise my book on a website. The reply was more than I requested. Advertisement on their website, all paper copy and radio ads were quoted at an affordable price.

The surprise- At no additional cost I will have the opportunity to be interviewed live by phone for a daily show, along with recorded interviews on 2 additional programs.

Everything I do cost money, including the roof over my head. If you are interested in giving simply go to this link or message me for additional ways to give.

Learning from Anne Lamott

As a writer, speaker and teaching I learn about life, God and writing from Anne Lamott. Below is a video I listened to today.

One way I motivate myself, is to listen to successful writers. I especially enjoy listening to writers who share their life and writing in a transparent style. I hope you enjoy listening to Anne too!

Writing-The Necessity of Being a Little Crazy

Anyone who believes all writers are lazy, only know writers from a distance. Many writers work hard, writing in a style others will desire to read.

I think it is necessary to be a little crazy to continue to write in our saturated informational, social media changing world.

I think it is necessary to be a little crazy to travel to far away lands in our unstable world.

But there is one constant in the middle of it all. Boredom is not part of my vocabulary.

How about your life, is it filled with boredom?
