Snow, Writing, and Cardio

This morning I opened my eyes to the land of snow.

This morning I opened my eyes to the land of snow. I enjoy sitting at my desk today, because life only requires me to go outside for a short time.

I live in a place where we are to share snow removal duties for our small porch, but usually I am the one who grabs the shovel and gets the job done!

I try to remind myself, this provides me with my cardio workout without going to the gym. It costs me nothing!

In this season of my life, the majority of what I am doing requires me to sit. This means I need to intentionally get up and get going!

I will be back with a 2nd post to share an inside look on my current marketing, for my writing.  Then I will be working on the cover and back of the book, “Quotes from the Heart for Women Leaders.”

I will share a little about podcasts, interviews and linking arms with others.

Returning to Deep Work, with Nancy

Deep Work
This evening I opened my audio book from my local library, and  began to listen to the book, Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success In a Distracted World. Author- Cal Newport.
I am only on Chapter 1, but the Introduction immediately began to speak to me.
It is easy for us to become distracted in today’s social media filled world. As writers we are expected to set up a social media presence before our book is finished.
Lately no matter what I do with my schedule I am unable to fit in the time to write. As I listen to Deep Work, I realize the situation lies within me.
Deep Work allows us the luxury of thinking deep. As a writer I am finding my writing is becoming shallow.
I am determined to change this habit, as I listen to Deep Work. This means, I will need to spend less time on social media.
Blog reading doesn’t seem to suck up my time, because I am pretty focused in my reading, but my distraction is the constant switching of my brain into different areas.
It is a great time of the year, going into 2019 to begin a new habit. For me my habit is to return to an old habit, to spend time deep thinking, which means a more focused day.
AND
hopefully I will be able to finish the next 2 books I am working on.
Staying on the writing journey with you,
Nancy
Has anyone read, Deep Work? I would love to hear your comments and thoughts.
