Write, Write, Write, and More Writing

Writing in different styles is a challenge.

Lately I describe my life using one word. Write, write, write and write again. Have you ever experienced a time of stretching with your writing?

Currently my writing requires different styles of writing. Everything from writing short copy for marketing, to writing an online course, writing a blog post, and a book. I am finding because of the diversity of the style it requires me to have a discipline mind.

Do you ever struggle with writing in different styles? For me I am finding to break my writing projects into days. On the day I am working on the course I do not work on the book. The next day I work on the book.

Today’s world of writing is changed forever.  How about you do you have suggestions that may assist others in our changing world of writing. Go to the comment section and share with us.

Thanks in advance for joining us and sharing.

When The Writer Disappears

What is going on when the writer disappears.

Do you ever find it necessary to disappear? The disappearance is not because of stress, anger or emotional pain, instead it is a time to withdraw into productivity.

My writing world requires me to pull back and at the same time stay connected. The pulling back is not easy to do in our social media connected world.

I am not in a season of locking myself away to write my second book. Instead I am working on redesigning a conference I lead to offer an online course on Relationships.

This is a different type of writing in comparison to writing a book.

Writing no longer looks like it did a few years ago. Books, magazines and letters are no longer the only style of writing.

Instead we write short sentences on twitter. We chat on Facebook feeds, private, personal and group pages.

Include blogs, websites, podcast and video and the writing of content is endless.

Will I ever sit down again and work on the book on community? Yes, this will happen soon. I am learning to write with a timer.

I set my app for 2 hours, shut down social media and turn off my phone.

A word to my writing friends– Do not give up. Set up a writing schedule that will work best for  you.

Don’t wait until you have a full day to write. In all I do I find writing, designing and preparation requires discipline.

No one can make another person live a disciplined life. The choice is ours, which will we choose.

The Dance of The Writer and The Reader

The struggle of writing. Too honest and transparent or not enough.

women-with-vision-2016-dance-2

Be honest, be transparent. Oh no, you are too honest. You are too transparent.

Honesty and transparency is a dance. A dance of what to say and what not to say. A dance of not saying enough and saying too much.

Honesty and transparency. A dance of what to write and what not to write.

The dance of readers, the writer writes with too much honesty and transparency.

The dance of readers, the writer is not honest enough or transparent enough.

The dance of the writer and the reader.

Forever a struggle.

Beginning Again Does Not Mean We Are A Failure

Beginning again does not mean we are a failure.

Happy New Year!

In a few days we will enter the year of 2017. For many as year end approaches it is a time when business owners review the previous year and set their sights on the approaching year?

In many ways the writing world is similar.

Did I finish the book I began in early 2016?

If I finished writing the book, “How many copies did I sell?”

If my book did not sell well, “Why? What do I need to do to improve in this area? Should I change my writing style? Is my writing not applicable to my audience?”

Did I not bother to market my book correctly?

If I did not finish writing my book, “Why did I not finish it?”

It’s reflection time! If we are not pleased with our answers to the above questions, it is not to late and we are not a failure.

Beginning again does not mean we are a failure. If it is our writing style, sign up for a writing class to improve.

Learn about publishing and marketing our writing.

Listen to authors who succeeded by listening to their podcasts, watching videos, attending conferences and reading books.

The exciting part about today’s writing is we have access online to the best writers. We can learn from them if we are willing.

I would love to hear from you. Do you have tips for our readers? What area do you struggle in as a writer. What are your specific plans to improve your writing in 2017?

Comment and share with us.

With hard work and a willing to learn mentality your success may be around the next curve.
