Snow, Writing, and Cardio

This morning I opened my eyes to the land of snow. I enjoy sitting at my desk today, because life only requires me to go outside for a short time.

I live in a place where we are to share snow removal duties for our small porch, but usually I am the one who grabs the shovel and gets the job done!

I try to remind myself, this provides me with my cardio workout without going to the gym. It costs me nothing!

In this season of my life, the majority of what I am doing requires me to sit. This means I need to intentionally get up and get going!

I will be back with a 2nd post to share an inside look on my current marketing, for my writing.  Then I will be working on the cover and back of the book, “Quotes from the Heart for Women Leaders.”

I will share a little about podcasts, interviews and linking arms with others.

Excerpt from my Memoir, An Imperfect Woman

Nancy, youtube, memoir, announcement (3)

I am releasing an excerpt from my Memoir to be released in 2019.

This is a rough copy of a couple of very small segments of my life and is a non edited version, and is not necessarily the order of the paragraphs of the book when it is finished.

Not long ago, I listened to a teaching about David in the Old Testament. David was a man who loved God, and tried to obey. Did he mess up, yes but we still read he was a man following after the heart of God.

Nothing has changed in the area of our human nature. As Christians we point fingers at leaders who make mistakes, we blast them in text messages to others, we post trash about them and crucify them with words on social media, and in blogs.

In all of this God reminds me of the words, grace and mercy.
The word for today is, “However, when they persisted in questioning Him, He straightened up and said, “He who is without [any] sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” John 8:7 AMP

As this word unfolded in my heart today, I was reminded that God allows me an imperfect woman to serve him, and to touch the hearts of leaders in the nations, with the love of Jesus Christ.

Just like Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:27;  I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.”

Although I definitely have not been naked, I know what it feels like to go shopping with people who spend a large amount of money, as I stand by and politely watch.

I know what it is like to eat less to feed my children, along with a few years ago as a single. I watched others fill their cupboards with food and eat in fancy restaurants, but I also know days of plenty.

I know what it is like to own a new car, and be on the opposite side with no vehicle and walk in the snow on a cold winter day to the bank and market. I know what is feels like to walk home in the snow-covered side walks with full bags. I know what it feels like to hear people complain about their homes, their full cupboards, and their vehicles.

Yet, in all of this I continue on, with whatever God places in my hand and extend grace and mercy to those who have more than me.

18 years ago I sat across the desk from a Pastor who was assisting me to walk through a difficult time in life. I recall  when I said, “I cannot do this!!

I was at the beginning of what I do now. He replied, ” What is that in your hand?” Next he simply stated, ” the only thing God gave to Moses was a staff.”

So no matter what happens in the area of finances and my abilities, just like Moses with only a staff, I will press on. And as I go, I forgive daily, for if I do not the Father will not forgive me.

Memoir Writing, From the Desk to the Deck

Nancy, youtube, memoir, announcement (3)

On Friday afternoon I dived into my memoir writing. I began with a few rambling notes. Then I moved to a rough draft introduction, and finally into chapter titles.

This version is my rough, rough, draft. It is the place where I lay aside perfect grammar, and perfect punctuation. It is the place where I allow whatever begins to flow from this section of my life to flow.

I moved from typing in my office, to the deck outside my door, to writing in cursive. I love to sit outside, with no shoes, dressed in comfy clothes, with sheets of paper, pens and highlighters in front of me.

The place I love, the place I find peace, the place of no perfection. Only my thoughts of my past and my current life.

The place of memoir. The place of admitting, this is my 3rd book, and it possibly will change my life and the life of others once it is available to the public.

Memoir, a story of a life turned inside out for all to see.

Writers Write, They Do Not Only Talk About Writing

Nancy, youtube, memoir, announcement (3)

I cannot recall a time when I was not writing. Whether it was writing a paper in high school, in college, in journals, business letters, partner letters, copy for videos, audios and finally online and in books.

A few years ago I stumbled on a site and began placing my teaching material on the site. Now, some of this material is in my books.

If you write online, save your writing friends. You never know when the time will arrive and you will desire to use it in a book.

My writing from 2011.

The Instigator

Today I as I read Acts 19 I focused on the riot in Ephesus that was started by one instigator named Demetrius. He was concerned about the loss of his income. Behind the scenes he insinuated future problems.

All it takes is one person behind the scenes to stir up the people around him to cause problems. People such as Demetrius never operate in the public eye they usually operate behind the scenes.

Most of us at one time in our life, may experience the problems that someone like Demetrius causes. Although this may not be an all out riot, their words seriously affect our life.

What did Paul do? Did he set out to confront Demetrius? No, he just kept moving forward preaching and teaching the Gospel. He kept his eye on the prize!

Paul speaks from his prison cell in Philippians 1:12-14

Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.

Reminder for my readers today; As you share the gospel there will be those that will oppose you. They will oppose you to your face and they will oppose you behind the scenes just as Demetrius did.

In fact those who oppose you, may be other Christians. The key is, just as Paul did, even from a prison cell, just keep moving forward. There will always be the Demetrius’s in our world

Requirements of Today’s Writer

The requirements of a writer of books are no longer the same today.

Nancy, youtube, memoir, announcement (3)

The requirements of a writer of books are no longer the same. The requirement of good writing and writing for our audience has not changed.

BUT

a time consuming change is here. The change is we must be part of marketing our own material. Even big name writers experience the change of self promotion.

Last week I designed a promo, ( I have others floating around out on social media too!)

A Hurting Heart Package 1,

The details are found at the link below.

If you are willing, hop on over to the comment section of this post and share a few of your promo ideas.

Nancy’s Memoir, A Story of Rejection and Opposition as a Woman Leader

At the end of the road, we find joy, love and peace, as we turn and walk away from those who reject us and oppose our call.

The road is tough, rough, bumpy, curvy, and filled with pot holes.

BUT

We grow as we go.

We learn as we go.

We fall to our knees and cry, and get back up and go again.

Others surround us and pick us up and walk along side of us.

Others walk away and shake their head, because we refuse to be molded and shaped to become just like them.

At the end of the road, we find joy, love and peace, as we turn and walk away from those who reject us and oppose our call.

Selah  ~~~~~ Pause ~~~ In peace we walk on.
